As with the current project being realized by Dürr in Nanjing, SVW also relies on the EcoDryScrubber in Yizheng. By using air recirculation, the innovative dry separation method reduces energy consumption by up to 60% in comparison to conventional spray booths. Furthermore, since fresh water and coagulant chemicals are not needed, the sustainability of the painting process is significantly increased. With the two lines in Yizheng, Dürr’s trendsetting EcoDryScrubber technology will already be in use in 40 applications on four different continents.

The rotating dip-coating system RoDip, with which over 25 million vehicle bodies have already been painted worldwide, comes into play in the pre-treatment and cataphoretic dip-coating. Through this, the rotation of the entire car body in the tank optimizes the immersion, flooding and draining process.

Before applying the base coat and clear coat, the exterior of the bodies are cleaned with sword brushes by two EcoRS 60 type robots. Thereafter, the line is separated due to capacity reasons and runs from the pretreatment in two tracks. 24 EcoRP L133 type painting robots in each of the two lines automatically take care of the interior and exterior painting. Even the opening of hoods and doors for interior painting, as well as the measuring of film thickness in the topcoat, is fully automated with robots from Dürr. The EcoLCC linear color changer used in the basecoat minimizes paint loss considerably when changing colors.

The UBS lines are each equipped with four Dürr robot stations which include a total of 28 EcoRS robots and the application technology for automatic seam sealing, underbody protection and rocker panel coating. One such robot also completes the installation of roof reinforcement dampings in a gluing station. In addition, an automatic cavity flood system for the preservation of body cavities is included in the scope of delivery. In order to meet capacity, this equipment is constructed in two tracks.

The new paint shop – designed for a primerless process and the use of water-based paint – has a capacity of 62 units per hour. This paint shop, issued by SVW in the first quarter of 2010 and dedicated to sustainability will go into operation in the summer of 2012. Then vehicles from both Volkswagen and Skoda will be painted there.

The customer has clear visions for its paint shop in Shenyang: the goal is to create nothing short of the world’s most environmentally friendly plant. The general contractor Dürr, with its diverse approaches to resource-saving painting, is the ideal partner for this.

RoDip M rotational dip coating is used in the PT/ED area. The rotational movement of the car bodies thus allows inclined sections at the entrance and exit of the dip tank to be eliminated. This fact leads not only to a significant savings of space, but also to a reduced consumption of energy and chemicals due to smaller bath volumes.

Other technical features that highlight this “green” attribute are the fully automatic IPP (Integrated Paint Process), which eliminates the need for primer and thus a drying phase as well. The spray booths are equipped with EcoDryScrubber technology, the innovative dry separation method from Dürr which requires no water or chemicals. In this way air recirculation allows a 60% savings in energy. The saturated binding material – a hazardous waste in conventional processes – can be re-used without any further treatment. Dürr’s dry separation systems are already in use or under construction in 40 paint lines on four continents.

Paint will be applied with 32 type EcoRP E033 and EcoRP L133 painting robots from Dürr. These are equipped with the latest generation of atomizer, the EcoBell3, which is characterized by its significantly higher atomizer performance. Due to the EcoBell3′s compact design, both exterior and interior painting can be done with the same rotating atomizer. In conjunction with the EcoLCC color changer, the EcoBell3 offers a highly efficient and compact, but also easy, application system for all applications. This leads to minimal paint loss during color changes and this process is considerably shortened.

A further measure for protecting the environment, the use of heat wheels for heat recovery from supply and exhaust air. Even the waste heat from the dryers is recovered through a waste heat boiler. The exhaust air stream from the clear coat booth is purified over and above the regulatory requirements before leaving the facility. Through the use of membrane technology in the pretreatment, electro dipping and waste water system, both water consumption and the amount of waste water are reduced.

With its layout philosophy, Dürr creates favorable conditions for this prototype of a green paint shop. The framework constitutes a simple, inexpensive industrial building with no intermediate levels. This concept is supported by multi-functional car body stacks in the form of high-rise storage facilities to ensure an optimum flow of materials.

Along with the environment, this project features another winner: the customer can lay claim to operating the most sustainable “green” paint shop in the world. The specific energy consumption that BMW reaches with this new paint shop sets new standards worldwide, as less than 500 kilowatt hours of energy are needed per painted car body. This is only a third of what was common just ten years ago.

At the same time much emphasis is placed on having a worker-friendly work environment: ergonomic working conditions are just as standard as ease of communication and maintenance. That BMW’s quality standards will in this way be guaranteed goes without saying.

Green Paint Shop from Dürr for Chery in Dalian

Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, August 5, 2010 – As general contractor, Dürr is building a new environmentally friendly paint shop for Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., a Chinese automobile manufacturer. At its facility in Dalian, China, in the heart of a very popular tourist area, not only is quality of the utmost importance but ecological aspects are as well. Using the latest technologies, Dürr can meet the high requirements for sustainability in the painting process. The    contract, issued by Chery in the second quarter of 2010, has a volume of more than € 60 million.

Dürr is responsible for the construction of the entire paint shop, including the application technology. In terms of saving resources and energy, the use of the EcoDryScrubber is highlighted. This innovative and already proven method for dry separation of overspray reduces energy consumption by up to 60% when compared to conventional spray booths. Air re-circulation is primarily responsible for this, since it eliminates the need for water and detackifier chemicals in the paint booth. A filtration quality of nearly 100 percent is achieved and the saturated binding material – a waste product in conventional processes – can be reused untreated.

The RoDip rotational dip process that is used in the basecoat area also helps to save resources through optimized immersion and retrieval phases and correspondingly low carryover. Furthermore, RoDip guarantees maximum coating quality.

For exterior painting, 32 robots of type EcoR6 with EcoBell2 atomizers are used, while the interior painting is done manually. Water-based paint is used for both the primer and the basecoat areas. Underbody protection is done by four Dürr EcoRS robots. Also included in the scope of delivery for the application technology are two Ecopaint Clean cleaning installations which are used to remove any dust adhering to the body prior to topcoat painting.

Chery plans to paint premium vehicles in its new plant. Therefore the focus is on quality and environmental aspects. Here as well, the EcoDryScrubber makes a significant contribution. With an air re-circulation component of up to 95%, the temperature and humidity in the painting process are easily kept stable. The small amount of conditioned fresh air makes the process practically climate independent – at any location in the world. This is just another example that Dürr, with its components from the Green Paintshop is the ideal partner for Chery’s requirements.

Starting December 2011, working in a two shift operation, 200,000 vehicles a year will receive their brilliant outfits – in a production line with high quality equipment and intelligent process control.

4G Identity Solutions Wins UN World Food Programme Contract
Leading ID Management Firm to Extend Biometric Solution from Enrollment to Point of Sale

Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, March 17, 2010 / IndiaPRLine / — 4G Identity Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (“4G ID”) announces that it has won a contract with the United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP) to expand a critical food distribution program with the objective of eliminating fraud and ensuring that all qualified citizens receive their proper share of assistance. The contract calls for expanding the WFP’s Public Distribution System (PDS) project in the state of Orissa, India by completing the enrollment of the entire population of the Rayagada district and providing an end-to-end solution for Point of Sale distribution that works effectively in remote areas. Whereas the earlier project has resulted in the elimination of duplicate and bogus identities, the current project will now ensure that the cardholders are empowered to exercise their full rights at the Fair Price Shops (FPS) through better systems, infrastructure and data transparency.

The UN WFP undertook the PDS project on behalf of the Government of Orissa to reissue ration cards and institute new processes to better manage and monitor the distribution of food grains. The intent was to use the new technology and processes to eliminate fraud, so that aid gets to as many eligible recipients as possible. The first phase of the project, which was also implemented by 4G ID, was the multi-biometric solution for approximately one million citizens in the Rayagada district. The solution captured three biometrics – a face picture, two irises and ten fingerprints, and demographic details of citizen. In addition, 4G ID provided a specialized de-duplication solution to eliminate fraud.

The current project has two objectives. First, 4G ID will setup and run biometric enrollment stations to enroll citizens in order to create a unique ID for all eligible beneficiaries in Rayagada. The second objective is to design, test and deploy an end-to-end biometric Point of Sale solution, robust enough to handle food distribution in hundreds of rural locations. Such a system will ensure that the commodities are issued to beneficiaries only when one of the family member’s credentials are verified at the assigned Fair Price Shop. 4G ID is tasked with providing a number of technologies (biometric, barcode, smart card and wireless technologies) in the POS solution. In addition 4G ID will provide a centralized management information system (MIS) to track and monitor the PDS system.

Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a mechanism in high-performance telecommunications networks which directs and carries data from one network node to the next. MPLS makes it easy to create “virtual links” between distant nodes. It can encapsulate packets of various network protocols.

MPLS is a highly scalable, protocol agnostic, data-carrying mechanism. In an MPLS network, data packets are assigned labels. The scope of the project includes Design, Engineering, Manufacture, Supply, Erection, Testing and Commissioning of 8 Bays of 765 kV & 2 Bays of 400kV, along with 7 Nos. of 333 MVA (Single Phase) 765/400 kV Power Transformers and 7 Nos. of 110 MVAR (Single Phase) 765 kV Shunt Reactor & 4 Nos. 63 MVAR (Single Phase) 765 kV Reactors. The project is expected to be commissioned in July 2011.
