Mumbai, 13th October’11: Bangalore based Bateman Engineering (India) Pvt Ltd (Bateman India), the fully owned subsidiary of Netherlands based Bateman Engineering NV, a leading engineering-project house and equipment supplier, announced that it has bagged a prestigious contract worth 2 million USD from Kolkata based Thiess India Pvt Ltd. Bateman will be providing its Engineering and Project management services for the proposed 15 MTPA Coal Handling Plant at the prestigious Pakri Barwadih Coal project in Jharkand, which has been awarded to Thiess India by NTPC Limited.
Thiess India Pvt Ltd is the Indian subsidiary of Thiess, a leading mining, construction and services contractor, with diverse operations throughout Australia and selected international markets. Thiess India will execute the project, one of the largest contracts ever awarded by NTPC, through a 90% owned Indian joint venture company Thiess Minecs Pvt Ltd. Pakri Barwadih will be the first of the six mines NTPC intends to develop to provide low cost for its power stations, replacing expensive coal. The contract involves construction of site infrastructure and coal processing plants during the first two years, followed by overburden removal, coal mining and operation of processing and rail loading facilities over the entire life of mine.

1200 kV is the highest voltage which no other country has. Vijai Electricals took the challenge of developing a 333 MVA, 1200 kV single phase autotransformer and accomplished the same.

Commensurate with Government of India’s plan for augmentation of installed Power Generation capacity and corresponding Transmission Corridors, the country would need in the near future, 1200 kV AC as next transmission voltage for bulk transfer of power of the order of 3000 to 6000 MW per line from power generation complexes in East and North East to load centers located in Northern and Western Regions.  1200 kV AC shall be the highest transmission voltage (UHV) in the world.  To develop this Frontier Technology indigenously, Power Grid Corporation of India took a lead to establish a 1200 kV Test station at Bina (Madhya Pradesh) with experimental line of 1.6 km and this transformer developed by Vijai Electricals Ltd.  will be installed at the substation.

The new version includes many new features and enhancements to both Reactis and the Reactis for C Plugin. Some highlights are as follows.

Reactis

A simplified Reactis Tester launch dialog makes it even easier to generate tests from a model. The user may now specify how long automatic test generation should last by giving a maximum run time or maximum number of simulation steps to take while constructing the test vectors. The old launch parameters are also still available.

When running Reactis-generated tests either in Reactis Simulator or in Simulink using the runtests utility, Reactis compares the values computed by a model for top-level output ports and for test points against the values stored in the test suite for those items. Any differences are flagged. Reactis has always supported a global tolerance for performing these comparisons to avoid flagging small rounding errors. A new feature in V2011 enables the specification of a different tolerance for each output or test point.

A new search facility lets you perform a text search of your model for strings matching a pattern you specify. You can easily search Simulink block names and parameters, Stateflow state names and actions, Reactis Validator objective names, configuration variable names, and C code (if you are using the Reactis for C Plugin).

Additionally in V2011:

• Model initialization speed is improved for some models.
• Right-clicking on a system in the hierarchy panel offers an option “Copy System Path” which will copy the system path of that subsystem to the clipboard.
• When extracting a subsystem, the user can select whether or not to include any triggering mechanism for the subsystem in the extracted model.

The following Simulink features are newly supported in V2011:
• Initial support for MATLAB R2011a models.
• Newly supported blocks: Rate Limiter, Function-Call Split, Function-Call Feedback Latch.
• Support enumerated types and values in S-Functions and Legacy Code blocks.

Reactis for C Plugin

V2011 also includes a number of new features in the Reactis for C Plugin. Some highlights are as follows.

• Comments and inactive C code within #ifdef statements are colored differently to differentiate them from exercised code.
• Improved reachability analysis to identify and highlight dead code.
• Allow (small) numeric arrays to be added as watched variables.
• Produce a warning if:
o the result of an expression with no side-effects is ignored.

o __declspec and __attribute clauses are used.

The customer has clear visions for its paint shop in Shenyang: the goal is to create nothing short of the world’s most environmentally friendly plant. The general contractor Dürr, with its diverse approaches to resource-saving painting, is the ideal partner for this.

RoDip M rotational dip coating is used in the PT/ED area. The rotational movement of the car bodies thus allows inclined sections at the entrance and exit of the dip tank to be eliminated. This fact leads not only to a significant savings of space, but also to a reduced consumption of energy and chemicals due to smaller bath volumes.

Other technical features that highlight this “green” attribute are the fully automatic IPP (Integrated Paint Process), which eliminates the need for primer and thus a drying phase as well. The spray booths are equipped with EcoDryScrubber technology, the innovative dry separation method from Dürr which requires no water or chemicals. In this way air recirculation allows a 60% savings in energy. The saturated binding material – a hazardous waste in conventional processes – can be re-used without any further treatment. Dürr’s dry separation systems are already in use or under construction in 40 paint lines on four continents.

Paint will be applied with 32 type EcoRP E033 and EcoRP L133 painting robots from Dürr. These are equipped with the latest generation of atomizer, the EcoBell3, which is characterized by its significantly higher atomizer performance. Due to the EcoBell3′s compact design, both exterior and interior painting can be done with the same rotating atomizer. In conjunction with the EcoLCC color changer, the EcoBell3 offers a highly efficient and compact, but also easy, application system for all applications. This leads to minimal paint loss during color changes and this process is considerably shortened.

A further measure for protecting the environment, the use of heat wheels for heat recovery from supply and exhaust air. Even the waste heat from the dryers is recovered through a waste heat boiler. The exhaust air stream from the clear coat booth is purified over and above the regulatory requirements before leaving the facility. Through the use of membrane technology in the pretreatment, electro dipping and waste water system, both water consumption and the amount of waste water are reduced.

With its layout philosophy, Dürr creates favorable conditions for this prototype of a green paint shop. The framework constitutes a simple, inexpensive industrial building with no intermediate levels. This concept is supported by multi-functional car body stacks in the form of high-rise storage facilities to ensure an optimum flow of materials.

Along with the environment, this project features another winner: the customer can lay claim to operating the most sustainable “green” paint shop in the world. The specific energy consumption that BMW reaches with this new paint shop sets new standards worldwide, as less than 500 kilowatt hours of energy are needed per painted car body. This is only a third of what was common just ten years ago.

At the same time much emphasis is placed on having a worker-friendly work environment: ergonomic working conditions are just as standard as ease of communication and maintenance. That BMW’s quality standards will in this way be guaranteed goes without saying.

MapleSim 4.5 is the latest version of the high-performance physical modeling and simulation tool. Based on advanced symbolic computation technology, MapleSim is an advanced engineering software tool for design, modeling, and high-performance simulation, including real-time and hardware-in-the-loop applications. Unlike traditional, numeric-based modeling tools, the unique symbolic approach of MapleSim exposes and provides access to the model equations.

The latest release includes enhanced support for Modelica®, an open standard for describing physical models and components that forms the basis of many components in MapleSim. With MapleSim 4.5, engineers can now access new collections of components using the Modelica import feature, seamlessly including third-party Modelica libraries and their own custom Modelica components in their MapleSim models. Libraries, components, and models based on the electrical, 1-D mechanical, signals, and thermal heat flow domains from the Modelica 3.1 Standard Library can be easily imported into MapleSim and included with standard MapleSim components and models. Other enhancements include the ability to convert older MapleSim models to use Modelica 3.1, the latest version of the Modelica Standard Library, so that these models can take advantage of the latest improvements.

MapleSim 4.5 includes an improved simulation engine that can readily simulate continuous models with discrete events. The enhanced engine handles a much larger class of these systems than earlier versions, and shows significant performance improvements for existing hybrid discrete/continuous models. With the improved engine, MapleSim can now handle models that include hundreds of events. Models with discrete events will often run 10 times faster than in MapleSim 4, with some models running over 100 times faster. The improved simulation engine also results in reduced formulation times for large continuous models, shortening the time the engine requires to prepare the model for simulation.
