Amitabh Bachchan unveils the first look of thriller “This Weekend

It’s always a dazzling evening when Amitabh Bachchan steps on the stage to address audience. And this time he wasn’t alone, the actor had Bollywood stuntman Tinu Verma to give company.

Amidst much fanfare, Big B released the music of stunt packed thriller “This Weekend” with the team of Tinu Verma’s production and Mr.Sanjeev Gupta from Global Advertisers at the Sun & Sand hotel on Septmeber 13th 2011.

Tinu Verma has been known in the industry as stunt man, but

“This Weekend” has been shot, produced and directed by him after 6 years gap. The film is about a weekend trip that runs into trouble and how people come out safe! The film is shot in three languages Hindi, Tamil and Telugu with the same star cast and the shooting for all the three versions was simultaneously !

“The first look and music is quite interesting and promising. Making a film in several different languages at the same time is a trendsetting phenomenon that has a huge potential,” comments Mr Sanjeev Gupta, MD-Global Advertisers.

FRANKFINN FILED SUIT BEFORE DELHI HIGH COURT FOR PERMANENT INJUNCTION RESTRAINING INFRINGEMENT, DILUTION AND TARNISHMENT OF ITS TRADEMARKS, IN THE UPCOMING FILM “DUM MAARO DUM” RELEASING ON 22ND APRIL,2011

AND

ALSO SEEKING RETRACTION WITH DAMAGES FROM THE PRODUCERS OF THE FILM M/S RAMESH SIPPY ENTERTAINMENT AND FOX STAR STUDIO INDIA.

New Delhi, 19th April, 2011: Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training, is the World’s No.1 Institute for providing Air-Hostess Training. In the month of June,2010 Fox Star Studio India approached Frankfinn for in film branding of its institute , by showing Bipasha Basu as one of the students completing her Air Hostess training course from Frankfinn Institute. Frankfinn initially agreed with the proposal and shared with the producers its Trade Marks, logos, images of Signage as well as students uniform. However during discussions, it was realised by Frankfinn that overall portrayal of Air Hostess in the film is not line with high standards of education, training and ethics imparted by Frankfinn, and hence it refused in writing the proposal of these renowned producers.

Comparison of Frankfinn Signage and Logo with the Signage used in the movie Dum Maaro Dum

However, on 11th of April, 2011, to its great surprise Frankfinn learnt through its creative design consultant in Mumbai that a logo and image deceptively and remarkably similar to that of Frankfinn has been used by such renowned and established film producers of Bollywood & Hollywood in their movie DUM MAARO DUM. They have done so despite clear cut refusal of proposal by Frankfinn in June 2010 itself and unambiguous instructions of Frankfinn to the producers that nothing should be portrayed in the said film as having any similarity to Frankfinn’s name, branding or uniform in any manner whatsoever.

The impugned twisting and dilution of Frankfinn’s trade mark by the film producers of such a stature is highly uncalled for. It seems to be an intentional malicious assault cutting at the roots of the Frankfinn’s business and is causing irreparable loss and injury to its reputation which Frankfinn has earned with years of hard work toil and expense of huge amount of money.

Delhi High Court has today admitted the injunction application of Frankfinn. The contentions placed by its counsel were duly considered and the court has taken cognizance and issued the notice to Mr. Ramesh Sippy and Fox Star Studio, the producers of the film, and others to be present in Delhi High Court on Thursday, 21st April, 2011.

“I fell in love with the floating city (City of Romance) the moment I landed in the scenic city of Italy”, Actor Rana Daggubati says. “Almost everyone will want to visit Venice for a number of good reasons now. Wait and watch Nenu Naa Rakshashi (NNR) and you will know why I am saying this. Ace director Puri Jagannadh and Cinematographer Amol Rathod have captured the beauty of the city in breathtaking manner,” Rana adds.

What made Venice more interesting and well-known around the world is the fact that it is surrounded on all sides by water, the beautiful actress Ileana, who co-stars with Rana Daggubati in the latest flick Nenu Naa Rakshashi, says “I’m sure the fun facts in Venice are more than enough to make you want to go to the “Queen of Adriatic”, Venice”.

Nenu Naa Rakshashi was shot amidst wood pilings on the submerged islands in the Northern end of the Adriatic Sea 400-foot bridges and 170 boat canals that connect the city to make it easily accessible to the local populace.

“Once you are caught in the island of endless streets, foot bridges that can leave you confused, you would have no other choice but to keep on walking – which is actually a good thing! There’s no better way to explore Venice than getting lost and be surprised in what it has to offer at your every turn.” Actor Rana Daggubati said.

A challenging romantic affair set in the beautiful city of Venice sure to catch the eyes of cinemagoers. “The traditional and symbolic boats used in the film are a perfect setting to narrate the story of Nenu Naa Rakshashi. Evolving and perfected through time, Gondolas as they are known are designed to be easily operated by a highly-skilled oarsmen Puri Jagannadh says”.

Nenu Naa Rakshashi is romantic love story between a professional killer and a Rakshashi. The romantic couple wades through the tough challenges that life throws. The movie offers an interesting insight about dealing with tough situation like suicide. The background setting of the movie conveys a strong message “Suicide is not a permanent solution to a temporary problem”.

Sandeep Khurana offers New Age Music to World Wide Audience. Released his 26th music album, “Zen Meditation Heal Spa”.

California based music producer and documentary film maker Sandeep Khurana recently released his 26th music album, “Zen Meditation Heal Spa”, another mystical blend of nature music with alluring soundscapes of flutes, piano, strings, guitars and ethnic instruments. The sounds from the album are soothing, uplifting, relaxing, and energizing, while having a mystical aura to them.

Sandeep Khurana’s previous releases include “Mantra Chants on New Age Music”, a devotional album set to new age music, “Semblances and Me, World Music Album”, “Shiva Chants”, “Yoga Music in 10 Volumes: Music for Tantra”, “Yoga Music by SK Infinity”, “New Age Yoga Music”, “Ethereal Chakra Sounds”, “Nature Sounds, Music for Relaxation”, “Zen Osho Music Lounge”, “Ocean Flutes from Osho Music Lounge”, “Nature Yoga Exotica”, “In My Eyes Exalted World Dance”, “Yoga Music and Guided Meditations”, “Yoga Music in 10 Volumes: The Infinite Elements”, “Reiki Healing Music”, and others.

In 2009, he produced new age instrumental albums as a tribute to the Bollywood genius versatile artist Kishore Kumar titled “Kishore Kumar, The Gifted Voice Instrumentals” and to music composer RD Burman, titled “RD Burman, The Digital Way”. In 2010, he produced a series of new age music albums group-titled as “Osho Music Lounge”, a set of fusion music albums with nature sounds artistically interwoven with acoustic guitars, flutes, strings, and electronic synthesizers. Another recent release, titled as ‘Yoga Music and Guided Meditations’ is a set of guided meditations for Yoga practitioners and learners. Another recent release, “Mantra Chants on New Age Music”, has harmonious voices artistically blended with new age sounds arousing devotional feelings in the heart of the listeners and educating them more about Mantra chanting & healing practices.

Venue change for Anbirkku Alavillai Premier on the 23rd

The premier venue has been changed to the “Four Frame Preview Theatre” for Anbirkku Alavillai on January 23rd in Chennai. Anbirkku Alavillai is a new film dealing with marriage and divorce in a typical Indian fashion starring Bollywood favorite Johnny Lever and Hindi TV star Sumeet Pathak. The “Four Frames Preview Theatre” is owned by filmmaker Priyadarshan and is mooted as the top-notch venue in Chennai. It is located at 18, Lake Area, 5Th Street, Nungambakkam. There will be an audio launch also.

Anbirkku Alavillai addresses the critical issue of divorce in Indian society and offers answers to this widespread problem. Recent press stories have pointed out that divorce in India has skyrocketed in the last 10 years and there is no recourse to a troubled marriage. In fact, a recent BBC story said that there has been a 100% increase in divorce rates in the past five years alone.” Pressures live dual careers – couples “lack patience and tolerance, they don’t want to put more efforts into a relationship to fix the issues abd the feel that escapism is the solution,” commented Dr Geetanjali Sharma, a marriage counsellor.

Anbirkku Alavillai was produced in the Chennai area using the high technology of Red Digital Cinema Camera and is just under two hours and features the playback talents of Srinivas, Krish, Kiruba, Santhosh and Manavan.

Anbirkku Alavillai (Unlimited Love) is a love story about Vijay and Sneha who fall in love without ever formally meeting and want to get married. Johnny Bhai (Johnny Lever) is an amusing older married man with a heart of gold. Vijay (Sumeet Pathak) is a young man who is in love with Sneha (newcomer Neetu P Chaudhury). Vijay and Sneha get married against the advice of both Dr Sheetal(a qualified family therapist) and Johnny Bhai and immediately begins to realize that the person they thought was perfect had flaws!

Conflicts start invading their daily life. Vijay goes to Johnny Bhai but doesn’t like his advice. This love story takes an interesting turn when Vijay’s wealthy and beautiful boss, Jyothi, played by Telegu cinema actress, Mansi Lal tries to seduce him. What happens next is something that will take Vijay to a point of no return…

AVM Preview Theater is located at 38 Arcot Road, Vadapalani, Chennai and the premier starts at 730pm.

New Delhi — The Indian film industry is typically known for producing lengthy films high on drama and filled with song and dance, but there are also some different kinds of films coming out from India giving a fresh experience to the audience. One such film is “Sumthing Like Luv” a short film soon to be showcased at Videoformes International Festival, 2011, Clermont-Ferrand, France.

The festival will take place at Clermont-Ferrand, a city famous for some of the most prominent short film festivals in the world. Since 1986, Videoformes has been annually organizing an international video and digital art festival. The event highlights the quality of the works and artists through exhibitions, lectures, screenings, performances, debates and meetings. Established and new artists get to meet in a stimulating venue of multimedia presentations, cinema and video film screenings, performances, web art, live video and music performances (VJ’ing, D’ing) etc. Videoformes is now engaged in the development of Digital Video Archives, one of the most important video and electronic art collection that has been put together in over twenty years. The upcoming festival would begin from 16 March 2011.

It is a moment to cherish for Producer Nikhil Sablania and Sudhir Raut, Executive Producer of the film “Sumthing Like Luv.” The film has been made for their company Cowdung Films, a film production, marketing, distribution and consultancy company, based in New Delhi, capital of India.

Talking about the film, Nikhil says, “From the very beginning we wanted to make a good short film. Audiences from Europe and other Westerns countries appreciate the short film a lot. With films like ours, “Sumthing Like Luv,” Indian audience would experience some of the more sophisticated creative work by film artists. This film would not have been possible without the support of many friends and relatives so we would like to thank everyone who helped us in making this movie, which is now a success.”

In the bustling metropolis and capital of India- Delhi, a love story unfolds and opens up a window into the lives of the newer generation. In bits and pieces the film speaks about their aspirations, cool language, crisis and a newly found stress buster to beat up all of their blues. The 17 minute digital color film has been entirely shot on location in East Delhi in the areas Laxmi Nagar and Ghaziabad. The film has been directed by Siddharth Sinha, with Neerat Kaur as main cast. The crew of the film includes Anmol Bhave as Audiographer, Savita Singh and Aditi Sharma as Videographer and Suchitra Saathe as Editor. Fast food chain Fast Trax, retail megastore Standard’s Max and Sheeba Unisex Saloon have supported the making of the film for the cause of promoting Indian cinema.

“In the 1980s, environmental activists in industrial nations and to a lesser degree in developing countries had to face resistance from the state, commercial enterprises, the media and the judiciary,” says media specialist and social scientist Dr. Somnath Batabyal from the Heidelberg Cluster. “But in the subsequent 20 years, many of these former opponents have appropriated the language of the activists and shifted the environmental agenda.” The aim of the conference is to delineate the changes that have taken place in environmental activism and the impact of transnational non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in southern countries. Also on the agenda for the meeting is a screening of the documentary “Don’t Cut My Head Off” made by Somnath Batabyal during the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. In it, environmental activist Seno Tsuhah explains why she has travelled to Denmark from the north-east Indian village of Chizami in the state of Nagaland. The Film shows her attempts to espouse the problems her people face in the wake of changing climate patterns.

The conference in New Delhi takes place in the framework of the research project “Environmental Activism” headed by Prof. Dr. Madeleine Herren-Oesch at the Cluster of Excellence “Asia and Europe in a Global Context”. THE STEPPING STONE FILM FESTIVAL

The second annual season of The Stepping Stone Film Festival (The S2F2), a showcase for emerging independent filmmaking talent from around the world, is underway. Selected short and feature films in four categories, from 175 participating films submitted from 24 countries, are being screened at Jaaga, the alternative art space, Bengaluru. Several of the films chosen this year will have their Asian or Indian premières at The S2F2.

Official selections at The S2F2 compete for 16 awards in recognition of technical and artistic excellence in filmmaking. Five of the awards will carry prizes sponsored by Scripped.com, a web-based screenwriting and collaboration software. The films will be screened at Jaaga, between 5:30 PM and 8:30PM, from 6 December to 13 December. Entry to the event is free.

Through a strong focus on recognizing and rewarding outstanding narratives and excellent production values in low and no-budget films, The S2F2 hopes to encourage aspiring filmmakers to take up the craft. An India-centric section, “India Calling”, will focus on films of Indian origin and in Indian languages, in order to give a much-need shot in the arm to independent filmmaking in India. The S2F2 is an IMDB-qualifying festival and is partnered with Withoutabox.com for online submissions.

According to the festival’s founder and director Shyam Madhavan Sarada, “The S2F2 hopes to dispel the notion among aspiring filmmakers, or the average moviegoer for that matter, that a good film cannot be made without huge investments – in cast, crew, equipment, post-production and what not.” As the producer and director of India’s first full-length guerilla feature film “Onan” (Tamil/English, 2009), which was made for under $7000, he feels that more people need to see well-made no-budget films to know what is truly possible. “The only thing that will stop anyone from making a good film is the lack of narrative imagination,” he says. “Everything else is possible without big money.”

The festival is a seven-day-long event beginning on 6 December and ending on 13 December every year, to coincide with “Independent’s Day”, which marks the anniversary of the founding of the Wannabe Studios online network.

Indian Horror Movie – The Sigh - A Chilling Night of Indian Horror Movie in Estonia

TALLINN (Estonia) – It is ten in the night at Von Krahl Theater Tallin. In the
chilling night, the Indian horror film “The Sigh” (Siski) sends a chill running down the audiences’ spine. The film tells the compelling story of a young couple who shift in a new house where the pregnant wife starts complaining about feeling and even seeing a stranger in the house. Her husband, a professor of psychology initially thinks that she is under stress of pregnancy, but eventually a shocking truth about past relationships is revealed under mysterious circumstances.

The occasion was “Sleepwalkers” (11th Student and Short Film Festival Sleepwalkers), the only international short film festival in Estonia, bringing together the freshest student and professional films and the most innovative visual ideas from around the world. The festival was held from 20-24th Nov 2010. Eleven years has been a period during which Sleepwalkers, together with its audience, has grown and discovered new fabulous forms in the short film genre and gained more and more international notoriety.

The thoughtful cinematography work by Vinod Veerakumar, Director of photography of the film “The Sigh” has given that edge to the film required for any film of the horror genre. The sound track of the movie designed by Audiographer Ratheesh Ravindran after putting in a lot of time and hard work, is backed by a great background score by Sudipto. The editing by Shubhojeet Bhattacharjee ensures that interest is intact until the very end of the film. Sudhir Raut and Sanchita Das play lead roles in the film with Arindam Saha and Riya Poddar in the supporting roles. The limelight of the movie is the child actor Sritama, who impresses everyone with her brilliant performance.

The Sigh (Siski) has been one of the successful student film from India this year being already screened at four different film festival around the world and more festivals coming up where it would hit the screens. The film has been so far showcased at 9th International Student Film & Video Festival (ISFVF) of Beijing Film Academy, China,” “17th International Young Filmmakers Festival of Granada (Festival Internacional De Jovenes Realizadores de Granada), Granada, Spain”; “Portobello Film Festival, London, UK” besides 11th Student and Short Film Festival Sleepwalkers Tallinn, Estonia. The film was made as final diploma film at one of India’s premier film and TV Institutes run by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI).

“I hope I can make better movie next time,’ says Nikhil Sablania, writer and director of the film “The Sigh” (Siski). The Delhi based Dalit filmmaker still feels that “The Sigh” is just a beginning of a long journey and he would make many more movies in the coming times. Horror film lovers better watch out and keep their fingers crossed for some real good stuff from the film maker in the future!

New Delhi – It is a festival bonanza for Delhi based filmmaker Nikhil Sablania and a moment to cherish. Nikhil, a young filmmaker, is going to represent India at the 9th International Student Film & Video Festival (ISFVF) of Beijing Film Academy (BFA), Beijing, China with his film Siski (The Sigh).

The Beijing Film Academy is a state-run film institute in Beijing, China. The film school is the largest institution specialized in the tertiary education for film and television production in Asia and has earned international recognition for its achievements in film production.

Nikhil Sablania’s short film Siski (the sigh) would be showcased along with 46 other films from different nations. The film was made as his academic project at one of the premier film institute in India, ‘Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute” (SRFTI) an institute run by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India.

It is a moment of pride for all Indians and a happy moment for Nikhil Sablania, a Dalit filmmaker, for whom it is a dream come true. Speaking about his film Nikhil said, “I always loved horror films. When I got into the film institute it was my dream to make a horror film, but there were many obstacles. First the duration of thirty minutes was not sufficient as we are used to watching feature length horror movies where the first thirty to forty minute are only to establish the horror feeling. Second, it was a challenge to make a horror film with a limited budget & time. And lastly, there always the risk of an intended horror film turning into a comedy (he laughs). But I am happy that the film has been appreciated by the Beijing Film Academy and by the global audience and so I feel satisfied with my work and it makes me even more passionate to make more good films in the future.”

His film Siski (The Sigh) is a twenty nine minutes short horror film telling the story of a young couple who shift into a new house and find themselves in an array of supernatural incidents that unveil a painful and horrific story, and this story changes their lives. The film is written & directed by Nikhil Sablania, the Cinematography is by Vinod Veerakumar, Sound by Ratheesh Ravindran & Editing by Shubhojeet Bhattacharjee. Sudhir Raut, Sanchita Das, Arindam Saha & Riya Podar are main cast of the film & Music is composed by Bhaskar.

The film also got international recognition last year when it became the opening film of the horror section at 13th Portobello Film Festival, London, UK, the biggest independent film competition in UK.

Acting Workshop in India by DTCA - Theatre Is Not To Earn But To Learn says Sunilll Vyaas Director of DTCA [...]

Acting Workshop in India by DTCA - Theatre Is Not To Earn But To Learn says Sunilll Vyaas Director of DTCA

“Hindi Theatre today essentially needs a revolutionary modernization of the patterns, concepts & all the set norms till now. Indulging young new talents is one of the ways to achieve it,” states Sunilll Vyaas – Director of Darpan Theatre & Cine Arts (DTCA). Basically an actor by profession Sunilll has worked with most of the leading theatre groups such as IPTA, Ank, Sangeet Kala Kendra & Bhoomika. He had also been attached with Urdu Academy, Natya Shaala & Natya Bhoomi. Having taken theatre experience with all these esteemed groups, he still wanted to explore new concepts & satisfy his inner artist in his own ways. So, he formed his own group Darpan Theatre & Cine Arts (DTCA).

Darpan theatre group has staged more than 17 plays covering the genres of family drama, comedy, social, psychological and thrillers written by eminent playwrights like Vijay Tendulkar, Ratnakar Matkari, Manohar Katdhare, K.P. Saxena, Abhiram Bhadkamkar, Mahesh Elkunchwar & Sunilll Vyaas himself.

“Being a creative person one must analyze his mind, heart & soul as to how & with which style of work can one express & satisfy himself” speaks out the young actor/director with a passionate twinkle in his eyes.. Theatre is a great platform to express yourself & experiment upon your creative skills. One can explore his talents simultaneously Acting/Writing/Directing in theatre. “The writer/director in me always enhances my acting capabilities on stage. This always works in theatre. Many theatre legends have proved it. But in cinema, one has to be specialized in only one at a time because the medium is different” states the actor in terms of professionalism.

With the credit of having acted in 26 plays, 11 written, 2 translated, 17 directed.

He proudly talks about his debut film ‘The Artist’ (releasing soon), “It’s a subject never made before with an unusual concept where 2 actors portray 22 characters in a one night story.” Sunilll plays 17 out of them – ranging from a simple Bengali babu to the merciless villain & to Mahavir Singh who finds his prey in beautiful women. His co-actress debutant Mamta Bhhatia plays 5 characters in the film is also the producer of the film. Now they are ready with the 2nd movie – “Galti se Mistakke Ho Gayi”-a family comedy of mistaken identities. With a few other movie projects in pipeline, Sunill Vyaas is executing his plans to make a career in main stream cinema.

He feels that new talents are not encouraged enough & not given an opportunity to show their talent for what they deserve – let it be screen or stage. Established companies & theatre personalities should encourage the new talents coming up.

Contributing practically to his thoughts, he pioneered in Mumbai conducting production oriented workshops on theatre acting, which happened to be a good opening for new talents. The two months workshop includes a play production giving the participants an opportunity to perform on stage. “We conduct these workshops on no-profit no-loss basis because for us “Theatre Is Not To Earn But To Learn” and not every aspiring actor can afford the high amount of fees what acting institutes are charging now a days” states the actor, who at the beginning stage of his career did a diploma in cine-acting from Actor’s Studio.

Talking about Theatre Acting he says that theatre is a serious job, which requires a large amount of patience, hard work & dedication. Every aspiring actor must undergo disciplined theatre work before entering in to acting professionally.

Next stage performance by DTCA are 2 plays Molier’s Hindi adaptation of “The physician inspite of himself” – titled “Wah Bhai Wah” “ & another non-stop hilarious family comedy. “Hum Nahin Sudhreinge”, written & directed by Sunilll Vyaas. It is 2 ½ hour long laugh-riot that is staged for pure family entertainment. The show is on Sunday – 24th Oct.2010, 7.00 pm at The Mysore Association Auditorium, Matunga (E). Besides the experienced actor himself, the cast introduces new talents on stage (i.e. participants of the latest workshop conducted by Sunilll Vyaas).

Details about the next Acting Workshop can be had at www.darpantheatregroup.com or at 26740947 or darpanarts@yahoo.co.in

Earthquake Survivor joins the team in Making Haiti Earthquake Documentary

New Delhi, India, August 16, 2010: There was a fundraiser and resource donation event on July 31st at Studio D114 headed up by Gene Rouzzoe in which entertainers collected over 20 boxes of clothes, various electronic items and 10 boxes of hygiene items. There is still a financial need of $8,000 for travel, lodging and logistics for the Haiti earthquake documentary.

Will Jestine a survivor has joined Gene Rouzzoe, Filmmaker Gary Davis and their coalition of entertainers have set forth to document the aftermath and the effect that it has had on the children, social and political environment of Haiti. The coalition wants to raise awareness of earthquake aftermath for the poorest third world country in the western hemisphere.

Mr. Davis has spoken with the Director of WXEL (a broadcasting network) of South Florida and a PBS affiliate who is very interested in the project and could take over and air the documentary. They feel that since South Florida has the largest Haitian population outside of Haiti, such initiative will be warmly received by the Haitian Diaspora in respected communities. All that remains is a matter of attaining coverage on a larger scale.

Jerry Dimanche, a supporter for the project states “When faced with adversity, we must all help each other not just our own.” Although there is much physical and human resources for the documentary currently in production, there are financial needs to produce the documentary. Will Jestine, his wife and children survived the earthquake have volunteered their assistance and testimony in the upcoming documentary.

Anyone who would like to help is encouraged to contact us. Any help is better than no help. Financial donations can be made to the Haiti Earthquake 7.0 documentary through The Prince Theater. Any clothing, non perishable food, medical or hygiene items can be dropped off at Studio D114 9250 Belvedere Rd. Suite #114 Royal Palm Beach FL 33411. For any information or questions contact Gene at (561) 795-6339 or haitiearthquake7.0@gmail.com
