Hyderabad – October 11th, 2011: The latest iteration of products, tools and services that help businesses deploy open-source cloud-oriented infrastructure with Ubuntu at the core have been announced. With Ubuntu 11.10 for desktop, server and cloud, Canonical delivers open platform solutions for all key parts of business technology infrastructure. Ubuntu 11.10 will be published on October 13, 2011 for free public download.

The deployment, management and orchestration tools that DevOps practitioners need to embrace cloud computing are central to this platform. Ubuntu 11.10 introduces Juju (codenamed Ensemble during development) for service deployment and orchestration across multiple cloud infrastructures, large-scale bare-metal deployments and workstation-based service prototyping.

Juju enables infrastructure and service developers to describe the deployment and scaling requirements of their applications, simplifying and enhancing the dialogue between developers and ops teams. Juju can be referred to as “DevOps Distilled” because it brings such clarity to the development-deployment dialogue and process. Juju simplifies deployment across multiple cloud providers and farms of physical servers running cloud-style workloads such as Hadoop.

This is the final release prior to Ubuntu’s next Long Term Support (LTS) release, due in April next year. “Ubuntu 11.10 gives forward-looking companies a chance to road-test the cloud and desktop technologies that will change the game for IT cost and performance” said Jane Silber, CEO of Canonical in a press release issued in Hyderabad. “We’re thrilled to deliver multiple firsts with this release: a technology pre for the ARM architecture on servers, cloud infrastructure and Juju service orchestration in the box.”

For business desktop users, Ubuntu 11.10 continues to build on the Unity user experience introduced in the April 2011 release of Ubuntu 11.04. Unity is now fully supported on ARM, making extremely low-power and low-cost thin clients possible for large-scale institutional deployments. Most of the Visitor Management System are complex set of computer program with plethora of peripheral devices like Webcams, Visitor Card Scanners etc.  This poses a major challenge in training as well as maintaining these systems. To overcome these issues Scrum System has recently launched a touch screen based Visitor Management Kiosk called Visitex Touch. This Kiosk is placed at the reception and the visitor can make their visitor badges on their own.

Visitex Touch kiosk can send an email invitation to the guest and can also intimate the appointment number via an SMS. When the visitor comes at the reception, he/she has to just present the appointment number and the visitor badge is printed with the photograph of the visitor. These badges are printed on a thermal printer and hence the running cost of this system is very low around 5 paise per badge.

The Kiosk also has few other innovating facilities like Get Directions, Employee Temporary badges etc. Various reports which are needed by the Security & Other administrative staff can be fetched by sending a simple email to the Kiosk. Hence in case of an emergency the security can know the guest inside the building at a click of a button.

The Kiosk is equipped with an in-build camera , thermal printer & a barcode reader A a LAN port is provided  for the email exchange.

Because of this Kiosk it is now possible to maintain a Welcome & Visitor Friendly image to the guests, still maintaining a high level of vigilance.

Cary, NC; June 23, 2011: Reactive Systems, Inc. announced the V2011 release of its Reactis® testing and validation package for Simulink®/Stateflow® models. The new version includes many new features and enhancements to both Reactis and the Reactis for C Plugin. Some highlights are as follows.

Reactis

A simplified Reactis Tester launch dialog makes it even easier to generate tests from a model. The user may now specify how long automatic test generation should last by giving a maximum run time or maximum number of simulation steps to take while constructing the test vectors. The old launch parameters are also still available.

When running Reactis-generated tests either in Reactis Simulator or in Simulink using the runtests utility, Reactis compares the values computed by a model for top-level output ports and for test points against the values stored in the test suite for those items. Any differences are flagged. Reactis has always supported a global tolerance for performing these comparisons to avoid flagging small rounding errors. A new feature in V2011 enables the specification of a different tolerance for each output or test point.

A new search facility lets you perform a text search of your model for strings matching a pattern you specify. You can easily search Simulink block names and parameters, Stateflow state names and actions, Reactis Validator objective names, configuration variable names, and C code (if you are using the Reactis for C Plugin).

Additionally in V2011:

• Model initialization speed is improved for some models.
• Right-clicking on a system in the hierarchy panel offers an option “Copy System Path” which will copy the system path of that subsystem to the clipboard.
• When extracting a subsystem, the user can select whether or not to include any triggering mechanism for the subsystem in the extracted model.

The following Simulink features are newly supported in V2011:
• Initial support for MATLAB R2011a models.
• Newly supported blocks: Rate Limiter, Function-Call Split, Function-Call Feedback Latch.
• Support enumerated types and values in S-Functions and Legacy Code blocks.

Reactis for C Plugin

V2011 also includes a number of new features in the Reactis for C Plugin. Some highlights are as follows.

• Comments and inactive C code within #ifdef statements are colored differently to differentiate them from exercised code.
• Improved reachability analysis to identify and highlight dead code.
• Allow (small) numeric arrays to be added as watched variables.
• Produce a warning if:
o the result of an expression with no side-effects is ignored.
o a non-void function does not return a value.
o __declspec and __attribute clauses are used.
