MindTree unveils IP suite to target Bluetooth® low energy market
Enables faster time to market for semiconductor manufacturers through its resource optimized and easily portable single mode Bluetooth low energy IP solution suite

Bangalore, INDIA, October 6, 2010: MindTree Ltd. (NSE: MINDTREE), global IT solutions and Product Engineering Services company and a leading provider of Bluetooth Intellectual Property (IP) solutions, announced the launch of BlueLitE, its single mode Bluetooth low energy (Bluetooth 4.0) Intellectual Property suite today. This IP offering complements MindTree’s market proven classic Bluetooth (Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and 3.0) and Dual Mode Bluetooth low energy (4.0) suite of IPs. The BlueLitE IP suite will help the semiconductor manufacturers make a swift, smooth and effortless transition to tap the opportunities in the fast emerging Bluetooth low energy market.

Bluetooth low energy (4.0) is the latest specification from the Bluetooth SIG. Its features like ultra low power consumption, enhanced range, and ability to run for years on a coin cell battery enable power constrained devices like sensors to connect to other Bluetooth devices. Bluetooth low energy opens up opportunities in new markets such as health devices, sports and fitness equipments, and watches while enabling new use cases in existing Bluetooth enabled products.

The BlueLitE IP suite consisting of Software IP – stack and profiles, and Silicon IP – baseband controller, digital Phy (Physical Layer) and RF, provides a complete single mode Bluetooth low energy solution. The pre-integrated solution IPs for complete transceiver and connectivity chip are part of the roadmap. The BlueLitE IP suite is being demonstrated at the IP SoC Days event at Hsinchu, Taiwan, on 18-19 October.

“MindTree has extensive experience in implementing Bluetooth connectivity in devices like headsets and optimized Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC). We have developed the IP taking into account the various nuances of resource constrained, sensor based devices – the primary targets for Bluetooth low energy” said Dr. Raghunath Govindachari, CTO of MindTree R&D Services. “With advantages like low footprint and gate count, easy portability across multiple OS and platforms and extensive interoperability testing; BlueLitE is perfect for easy and risk free integration of low energy Bluetooth connectivity in any product line.”

India, October 4, 2010: Kivash, a visual art space is hosting a solo art exhibit by Anand Bedrala from the Sat 9th Oct 2010 5pm to 15th Oct 2010. Gallery Kivash says Supple Radiation is an oxymoron statement, throwing light at Anand Bedrala’s ability to be flexible with his subject of artwork while still making them colorful and energetic all at the same time.

A ray of light is power. Power to give life & the power to see color. Imagine a world without color. It would be such a drab to live in. Anand Bedrala’s Supple Radiation is works dedicated to that burst of Light. His ability to represent Abstract, Out of the Box ideas and Realism are truly a treat to the eye.’ Supple Radiation exhibits will be inaugurated by eminent art critique
Krishna Setty, famous architect Nagaraj Vastare and art lover and collector C.R Priya Chetty at Gallery Kivash on Saturday, 9th Oct 2010 at 5pm. The exhibits are open to public viewing from Sunday 10th Oct 2010 to Friday, 15th Oct 2010.

Anand Bedrala hails from Puttur, Karnataka. He has completed his A.M, G.D, & B.F.A. He conforms to sensitive tonal values and produce divisions of picturesque spaces which are interdependent with the rolling forms. His list of achievements, not limited to, include National Award Varnika 2002 in Ujjain MP.

Lalithkala Academy Award 2003.

Camel art Southern Region Award 2008.

Bombay Art Society Award Mumbai 2009.

The former president of India, A.P.J Abdul Kalam had this to say about Anand’s paintings. “These works speak about glorious past.”

Kivash a visual art Gallery is the new phenomenon in town. The space is dedicated to Paintings on one side and Printed Tees on the other. These seemingly different silos of Art namely Paintings & Fashion gives Kivash its identity. Eminent thinkers like Marketing Extraordinaire Seth Godin, Design Guru Jonathan Ives , Ideo’s Tim Brown and Industrial Designer Dieter Rams have a very strong influence in creating the Kivash experience.
Harnessing architecture for future service-centric networks

MUMBAI, INDIA, 29 September, 2010: There is little doubt that the internet is poised to emerge very differently in the future compared to the existing scenario. The evolution of the internet is important in the business context because the internet is not only a future network, but a highly dynamic communications platform, linking humans with computers, machines and data to achieve smarter services.

This was the key focus of the two-day ‘International Conference on Next Generation Networks’ — 2010, held between September 24-25 in Mumbai, organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the IET Mumbai Local Network.

Distinguished speakers and well known industry experts from leading operators included:

Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi, Director of International Relations—Faculty of Technology—

De Monfort University

Vimal Wakhlu, Director Technical of Tamil Telecommunications Limited

R. K. Bahuguna, Director (Network Planning & Marketing) of RailTel’s Network

Prakash Bajpai, Chairman and founder of Tikona Digital Networks

Dr. Kumar Sivarajan, CTO and co-founder of Tejas Networks

Mohan Tambe of Innomedia Technologies

They shared their perspectives along with top-notch Internet service providers, telecom engineers, mobile operators and broadband wireless operators.

The conference also discussed the global migration towards Next Generation Networks (NGN), which is expected to usher in major changes in network architectures and services. The conference also set the stage for an incisive deliberation on the key issues of networking technologies, with the focus on development of the internet and the role of communication
networks in the future. These included broadband, wireless, IP telephony, network convergence, new broadband technologies, storage networking, new switching/routing techniques, network security and many more.

According to Prakash Bajpai, Chairman and founder of Tikona Digital Networks, India’s mobile penetration is fast catching up with China’s. India’s mobile penetration is approximately 50% of the population. Similarly, China ranks second to India’s fixed line penetration, which is estimated approximately 40% of the population.

He also said 4G WiFi is expected to play a major role in India. Heavy investment is required in both 3G and 4G networks. Bajpai also feels that while the traditional mobile operators are facing the heat of network congestion, 4G technology will be the only way out. In the context of broadband connectivity, Bajpai strongly feels that WiMAX will be the next twist in the wireless landscape.

Kartik Parikh of Fastech Telecommunications spoke on the ‘service quality measurements for mobile broadband’. Parikh said mobile broadband applications are rising in popularity very fast. Hence, mobile broadband usage must be carefully monitored, analyzed and trended. According to Parikh, the data growth month-over-month is estimated around 16-18%. To keep on top of wireless data growth with increasing data use, there is a need for active testing, including random drive test and subscriber emulation.

Haridev Khosla, Country Head, Wireline Technology of Tata Teleservices Limited said that the entry of private operators (currently over 12 operators) has led to fierce competition with each operator offering multiple services – fixed, mobile, internet, broadband, IPLC and VAS. This has almost reduced the long distance tariff to 35%, increased subscriber 20 fold from 27 million to 621 million (till March 2010). The current teledensity has also increased 23 times from 2.3 million to 52.74 million. Similarly, the rural teledensity also increased 49 times from 0.5 million to 24.29 million and urban teledensity increased 17 times from 6.9 million to 119.73 million.

An estimated 1.23 million class 4 NGN ports have been installed and further 13.7 million Class 4 NGN ports are in the pipeline. By 2012, the NGN capacity deployed in the country is expected to reach 18.9 million class 4 lines and 17.6 million class 5 lines, informed Khosla.

The key challenges for NGN are regulatory reform, which is moving at slow pace, traditional carrier – huge investment in conventional equipment, writing off of un-depreciated asset, new carrier – all IP network and technology not yet proven, low broadband penetration and availability of spectrum for growth of wireless broadband connectivity.

The development and operation of innovative ideas within NGN will have a huge impact on the society. Furthermore, new applications with a dynamic deployment may support rapid development of new services even better than before. Does this lead to new revenues as well? Simplifying the process, Ashutosh Vasant, Group GM Marketing of RailTel Corporation of India
Ltd said that NGN is a broad term to describe key architectural evolutions in telecommunication core and access networks that will be deployed over the next 5–10 years.

The key driving forces for NGN is integration of network resulting in huge network cost savings (up to 50 percent), bandwidth charges reduction by 90 percent, point-to-point E1s not required, ageing networks in need of new equipment, reduction in operational costs, reduced time to roll out new services, ease in offering new services (VoIP, IP-TV), fully mesh flat IP transport layer, centralized network management, end-to-end call tracing and trouble shooting, extensive report generation and migration to all IP IMS-based services in the future, said Vasant.

About the IET

Established in 1871, the IET is the world’s second largest professional society for the engineering and technology community, with more than 150,000 members in 127 countries.

Cambridge, England and Pune, India: September 13, 2010: UK-based picocell and femtocell developer and manufacturer, ip.access (www.ipaccess.com), today confirmed it has secured a dedicated R&D centre in India in partnership with worldwide business services company, Quickstart Global.

Based at the Quickstart Global centre in Pune, the ip.access facility will initially number some 10-15 staff but is expected to grow to 40 dedicated R&D engineers by the end of this year.

Announcing the move, ip.access Chief Operating Officer, Philip Rimell said: “We see this new Pune centre as a great opportunity to extend our product development capability in order to best serve the needs of our customers and the market worldwide.

“This will be a focused development centre, leveraging the wealth of engineering talent that is available in India and complementing the work of our long-standing Indian partners, Aricent and Sasken.”

Securing a dedicated R&D resource in India is the second piece of good news for ip.access in the region. Earlier this month the company announced it has won a contract with leading Indian operator Bharti Airtel to supply its nanoGSM picocells for deployment across the country.

The picocells will be used to boost both in-building coverage and capacity within business premises and other busy indoor locations throughout India.

“India is a vibrant and burgeoning wireless marketplace – both in terms of usage and in terms of development,” added Mr Rimell. “We are delighted to be involved in this growth both as a supplier of services and as a creator of opportunity. By this time next year, I expect some 80 people will be located at the Quickstart Global R&D centre for ip.access in Pune.”

Neal Gandhi, CEO of Quickstart Global said: “Our In-House Anywhere model was set up to enable companies such as ip.access to create centres of excellence using local talent without the headaches involved in setting up their own operation overseas.

“We understand how important it is for ip.access to have an R&D team working under its direction and supporting its market requirements. We look forward to a long partnership and to establishing a support centre that will help ip.access not only achieve its goals but also provide valuable employment opportunities locally,” he added.

MUMBAI, India, 13 September 2010: Investment Ambassador Hanif Lalani, former Chief Executive of British Telecom (BT) Global Services visits India to further strengthen relationships with existing and potential investors as well as support trade activities. Lalani, who has recently been appointed as the Investment Ambassador for Northern Ireland, is joined by Invest Northern Ireland CEO Alastair Hamilton, and will meet the leaders of Indian IT and ITeS industry in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai between 13 September to 17 September.

Hamilton said: “India in particular, continues to be a strong source of investment, with L&T Infotech recently confirming it is to establish a presence here alongsideother global names including Polaris and Firstsource. With Belfast revealed earlier this year as the second most popular location in the UK for international investment after London, it is critical that we build upon this success and bring similar high quality projects from India to Northern Ireland.

“Mr Lalani possesses a wealth of expertise in the IT, telecoms and business process outsourcing sectors. This will complement Invest Northern Ireland’s in-market activities which are focused on securing new inward investment and helping local companies exploit trade links in valuable markets, such as India.

“By providing strategic input to Invest NI’s sector sales and marketing strategy, and working with the organisation’s investment teams in London and India, Mr Lalani will assist in refining and further enhancing the competitiveness of the Northern Ireland proposition.”

Lalani added: “My time as Head of BT Northern Ireland was one of the highlights of my professional career. I experienced first hand the strong skills base, positive work ethic and knowledge infrastructure that continue to attract investment from around the world. In volunteering to support Invest NI’s trade and investment objectives, I hope I can help this region to secure new investment and growth opportunities. I am delighted to be able to leverage my network within the Indian market and am really looking forward to discussing the Northern Ireland proposition with key decision makers here.”

Notes to editors:

Mumbai, September 12, 2010 – Over 300 people came together to use Listerine mouthwash simultaneously urging Indians to include mouthwash in their daily oral care regime, setting a new Guinness World Record this evening at the Nirmal Lifestyle Mall in Mulund. This record was set at an awareness drive sponsored by Listerine in association with Indian Dental Association on the occasion of World Oral Health Day.

Over 300 participants took the pledge and made a commitment to take complete care of their oral health. The event had MTV anchor Cyrus Sahukar enthuse the crowd to sign/ take a pledge complete oral care. At 5 pm all the 300 participants used mouthwash for 30 seconds simultaneously to create this new world record.

“This is an exciting moment indeed,” said Tushar Murdeshwar, Head of Marketing, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Division, India. “We are committed to provide consumers with complete oral health with our essential oil based Listerine MW and we hope that this record will help increase awareness among consumers to include mouthwash as part of their regime,” he added.

Speaking at an awareness drive organized in Mumbai at the Nirmal Lifestyle Mall, Mulund, Mr. Ashok Dhoble, General Secretary, Indian Dental Association, said, “In India oral care is limited to just tooth brushing. Innovative oral care accessories such as mouthwashes, and dental floss are crictical to offer compelete oral care solution.”

To help men and women make the most of their time, leading dentist Dr C. D. Dwarakanath, Head Department of Periodontics at the Oxford Dental College & Hospital, Bangalore teamed up with the makers of LISTERINE® to develop simple Oral Care Tips. “Taking care of your health and oral well-being doesn’t have to take a lot of time. It can easily be incorporated in your daily rituals with ingenuity, creativity and a small amount of time,” he says.

Here are a few other simple things you can do to get a healthier mouth:

1. Replace your toothbrush every three months. Sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won’t do as good job of cleaning your teeth. Keep a few extra toothbrushes, on hand so you can easily swap the old for the new.

2. Visit your Dentist generally at least once or twice a year for professional cleanings and oral exams. The more you go, the healthier your mouth will be–and those visits will seem less daunting.

3. Keep your bottle of Antiseptic mouthwash in a visible spot* in the bathroom so you don’t forget to rinse. Rinsing with an antimicrobial or antiseptic mouthwash twice a day helps reduce plaque formation between your teeth. It improves the health of gums, in addition to providing germ killing effects, cavity prevention and odour- free breath. That’s important when you consider that a mouthwash can reach areas of the oral cavity which are inaccessible to brushing. Thus brushing should be followed by the use of mouthwash.

4. Limit in between snacks and foods that are high in sugar. If you do give in to your sweet tooth, eat sugary foods with meals. Your mouth produces more saliva during meals, which helps neutralize acid production and rinses food particles from your mouth. Foods rich in sugar and starch greatly contribute to the production of plaque acids that attack tooth enamel and eventually cause it to break down, forming a cavity.

Eat a well balanced diet and drink plenty of water.

5. Maintain a healthy oral care routine. Make it a goal this week to brush and rinse twice in one day, and floss once. We’ll bet that extra 30 seconds of swishing will make your mouth so clean and healthy you’ll love the feeling. So you’ll do it again the next day.
