Lakshmisha Vinay and Murganathan win the invitational round of Mercedes-Benz Trophy in Bangalore



Lakshmisha Vinay and Murganathan qualify for the Bengaluru Regional Round of the Mercedes-Benz Trophy

 

Bangalore, 17th February, 2012: Eagleton Golf Resort played host to more than 100 distinguished amateur golfers from the city as they matched their skills for a chance to qualify for the Bengaluru Regional Round the Mercedes-Benz Trophy, to be held on February 18th, 2012.

 

With a tremendous response from invitees, the 12th edition of the Mercedes-Benz Trophy in Bangalore got off to a great start. Based on scoring in accordance with the Double Peoria format, Lakshmisha Vinay emerged victorious in the 0-18 handicap category with a nett score of 71.6. He beat stiff competition from Saif Mehkri who finished second with a nett score of 72.4.

 

In the 19-24 handicap category, Murganathan, topped the leader board with a nett score of 73, beating B. Ashok Rao, who finished second with a nett score of 73.2. By finishing on top of their respective handicap categories, Lakshmisha Vinay and Murganathan now qualify for the Bengaluru Regional Round of the Mercedes-Benz Trophy, scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 18th.

 

In keeping with the spirit of the tournament that encourages bonding over golf, the Invitational Round of the 12th edition of Mercedes-Benz Trophy in Bangalore also hosted golf clinics by Gaurav Diwan.

 

In the Ballantine’s Long Drive Challenge, Rahul Bhalla hit a 265 yard shot to win the contest. The day ended with a champagne lunch for invitees and their families.

 

Eagleton is now all set to host the Bengaluru Regional Qualifier for the Mercedes-Benz Trophy tomorrow where more than 100 golfers are expected to compete for a spot in the National Final of the 12th edition of the Mercedes-Benz Trophy, expected to be held in April 2012.
