Convert your ideas into Apps.
Mumbai, August 27, 2010: Always longed for the ‘perfect’ application? Have a great idea but don’t quite know how to translate that into a real app? In a run up to the launch of the much anticipated Nokia N8, Nokia has announced the “Make My app” contest inviting consumers across India to send in exciting new ideas for mobile applications. Three best entries will win a cool new Nokia N8, and the winning ideas will be developed into downloadable applications by professional developers and placed on the Ovi Store for consumers to download and enjoy.
The Nokia “Make My App” contest will run from August 19, 2010 to September 19, 2010, ahead of the Nokia N8 going on sale in India. Participation is simple – consumers can log on to www.makemyapp.nokia.co.in, and submit their app ideas under any one or all of four categories, viz. Think Green, Fun and Games, Easier Living and Better World. The ideas will then be opened to public voting online and every week, 10 of the most popular ideas will be shortlisted to the final round. Three “top ideas” will eventually be chosen from the shortlist by a panel of judges.
Commenting on the contest, Viral Oza, Head of Activation, Media and Online Marketing, Nokia India said, “Make My App is an exciting opportunity for all tech enthusiasts to translate their creative ideas into live, downloadable mobile phone applications. “Make My App” is unique as it opens up content creation to consumers, allowing them to share what they think will be a great app and provides them with a platform to co-design apps with professional developers for the Ovi Store. What’s exciting is that the 3 winners will also receive the Nokia N8, our new smartphone, with which people can create compelling content, connect to their favorite social networks and enjoy on-demand Web TV and Ovi Store apps.”
