‘India Health Progress’ launched; to address critical issue of healthcare inaccessibility in the country
- an independent organization that aims to raise the longstanding concern of inaccessibility-
New Delhi, August 16, 2010 — ‘India Health Progress’, a first-of-its-kind initiative with the aim to ensuring health for all, was launched in the capital on August 15 to coincide with the 64th Independence Day.
The aim of IHP is to provide a health policy platform to various partners who will work in unison to achieve a common goal — access to healthcare.
This initiative will be led by various individuals and organizations, both public as well as private, that can directly or indirectly play a role to not only raising awareness levels among all concerned, but also ensuring access to healthcare in India.
Mr Aman Gupta, Principal Advisor, India Health Progress says, “The country has made significant progress on other fronts, including the economy, but access to healthcare still remains a major area of concern. Our aim is to build consciousness in the minds of Indian audience around this longstanding issue.”
As per recent statistics, an estimated 40.9 million Indian patients suffer from diabetes currently which is the highest in world! 30 million people in the country are infected with Hepatitis B Virus (HBV).
India Health Progress intends to create a nationwide awareness on the three crucial aspects of healthcare – prevention, cure and healthcare infrastructure.
Mr Ranga Iyer, Advisor, India Health Progress, says “Within this arena, India Health Progress will drive efficiency by implementing disease awareness and prevention programs. It will further demonstrate value to an effective and sustainable healthcare system and focus on primary healthcare and health insurance.”
The working model of India Health Progress will revolve around engaging role players in the healthcare system, involving them in discussions around the identified aspects and resolving the setback by finding a solution. It will also focus on providing the resource and knowledge support to partnering organisations on the various critical issues related to healthcare after conducting research studies.
India Health Progress is an initiative by Imprimis Life, a healthcare communications consultant with almost 12 years’ experience in the Indian healthcare sector.
