About Pearson Test of English Academic:
PTE Academic is a computer-based test for non-native speakers of English who need to demonstrate their academic English skills for purposes such as obtaining a place at an English-speaking university or business school or applying to the UK Border Agency for a visa. The test was launched in late 2009 by Pearson and has rapidly built up acceptance from colleges, universities, training providers and other organizations throughout the English-speaking world. These organizations include Harvard Business School, Yale University, Cornell University, Navitas English, Dartmouth College’s Tuck School of Business, INSEAD, Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), and Russell Group universities such as the University of Edinburgh.
More than 1,500 academic programs now accept or are preparing to accept PTE Academic scores. These programs receive approximately 580,000 applications from international students annually, meaning that over half a million international students now have the option of submitting PTE Academic scores when applying for admission. For a full list of organizations that accept PTE Academic scores, visit www.pearsonpte.com/recognize.
PTE Academic is delivered on a “choose and book” basis rather than on fixed dates, which can speed up the testing process for test takers. Test takers can register for the test up to 48 hours in advance and schedule their appointment just 24 hours before sitting for their exam. Results are delivered within five business days. Currently, results are available in just two business days. The test has been rapidly rolled out worldwide and is already being delivered in Pearson’s network of test centers in countries including India, China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada.
