According to Mr. Nikos Kardassis, CEO, Jet Airways, “Our airline has continued to build on its leadership position within the Indian aviation industry, with seven consecutive months of stellar growth. A buoyant global economic environment, coupled with the relaxation of governmental and corporate travel restrictions, have resulted in an upswing in air travel demand. Importantly, Jet Airways has also been proactive in responding to market demand, testimony to which was the successful launch of the ’Konnect Select’ our new premium cabin offering on Jet Konnect flights during the summer peak season. Disruptions due to the Icelandic volcanic eruptions on the transatlantic route were also minimized due to the proactive measures put in place with the temporary shift of the European transit hub from Brussels to Athens.”
As part of the company’s strategic expansion program, the airline has recently commenced daily non-stop flights from Mumbai to Johannesburg for its guests on the international sector as well as introduced exclusive Jet Escapes packages to South Africa and Singapore. In fact, Jet Airways has unveiled an attractive array of packages South Africa for Indian soccer fans.
Jet Airways was also recently adjudged the ‘Best International Airline’ at the Condé Nast Traveller India Awards.
The impressive growth figures have been recorded despite disruptions in flight schedules due to volcanic eruption in Iceland that resulted in the closure of several airports across Europe including London during the month of April 2010. Jet Airways, also operated additional flights from Bangkok to Mumbai and Mumbai / Delhi to London, to enable the movement of stranded passengers onwards to London post the resumption of flights to Europe.
