Meghna Ghai- Puri Receives Women Achievers Award for Media Education from Young Environmentalists Programme Trust

Mumbai, India, March 9, 2010 / IndiaPRLine / — As part of the celebratory activities for International Women’s Day, the Young Environmentalists Programme Trust – (which seeks to bring about a positive social impact, esp. through working for Conservation and the Environment) – in association with Rodas Ecotel, Powai, conferred the Women Achievers Award on a select group of women, all role-models in their own right, for their remarkable achievements in fields as diverse as civic and community services, journalism, marine conservation, education, theatre, cinema, fashion design etc.

Meghna Ghai-Puri, the young and dynamic President of Whistling Woods International, (WWI), Asia’s largest Film, Television, Animation and Media Arts institute, providing world class education, received the Award for Media Education.

Fittingly, Founder-Chairman of WWI, Subhash Ghai , along with Elsie Gabriel, President of the Young Environmentalists, and renowned and respected activist  Medha Patkar, herself an Awardee took part in the ceremony of lighting of the diya, that preceded the programme.

The women achievers received their mementos from Medha Patkar, with Elsie Gabriel, President of the Trust reading out the citations to an appreciative audience.

In her brief acceptance speech, Meghna said that it was an honour to share a platform with Medha Patkar and a privilege to receive the Award from her. She thanked her family – her parents and her husband – who have always been there for her.

Her simple and heart-felt message:

“To all the men out there: Value the girl child. She can achieve a lot for you.”

Whistling Woods International is itself honoured by this Award conferred on Meghna Ghai-Puri.
