Largest students sports meet in Asia – TIES 2010
PSNA College of Engineering & Technology is hosting 28th TIES; 25,000 students both men and women from 150 Engineering colleges are participating
Dindugul, Tamil Nadu, February 11, 2010 / IndiaPRLine / — PSNA College of Engineering & Technology, Dindugul is hosting 28th Tamilnadu Inter Engineering Sports event (TIES 2010). A 14 days mega event scheduled from 14th February 2010 to 27th February 2010 will bring 25,000 students together from 150 Engineering colleges of Anna University across the state.
The very first TIES were conducted by College of Engineering, Guindy in 1976. It went on for three years non-stop. It had a break after 1978. The TIES was given a fresh release of life and it emerged with renewed vigour from 1985 on wards and this spectacular state level sports meet hasn’t looked back since then.
Tmt K.Dhanalakshmi Chairperson of PSNACET today announced that they would be hosting TIES 2010, the largest mega sports event of its kind in Asia. She added that “PSNA is delighted to host the prestigious TIES 2010 in PSNACET Dindugul. PSNACET has been selected by Anna University after a through scrutiny of standard norms. TIES 2010 provides equal opportunities both for Men and Women students to prove their talents. We have always anticipated the expectations of students well in advance and made all arrangements in our college campus to handle TIES 2010 effectively”
The sports event is conducted for men and women separately. The women events such as Badminton, Ball Badminton, Basket ball, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volley ball, Foot ball and Chess will be conducted from 14.02.2010 to 16.02.2010. The men events such as Badminton, Ball Badminton, Basket ball, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volley ball, Foot ball, Hockey, Chess, Weight lifting and best physique will be conducted from 18.02.2010 to 24.02.2010. Spot entries for women games will close on 13.02.2010 at 4 pm and the fixtures will be drawn at 5 pm on the same day. Spot entries for Chess (Men) will close on 17.02.2010 at 4 pm. Spot entries for Weight lifting and Best physique for Men will close on 22.02.2010 at 4 pm. The Athletic events will be conducted for both Men and Women between 25.02.2010 and 27.02.2010.
All sports events are meticulously organized by PSNA Chairperson Tmt. K.Dhanalakshmi and Directors Thiru. R.S.K. Raghuraam, Dr. R.S.K. Lakshssmana Prabhu and Thiru. R.S.K. Sukumaran. Prof.M.P.Raghavan principal of PSNACET will be the Chairman of TIES 2010. Mr.M.Muruhuvendan, Physical Director will be acting as the secretary and all the events are co-ordinated by the organizing committee consisting of Deans, Various Heads of Departments, Registrar and Administrative Officer. To organize the TIES 2010 event in suitable manner, 25 committees were formed and each committee is headed by a convener. Each committee will look after the stated duties and responsibilities and make conducive environment for each sports person in the college to participate in all the events without any difficulties.
Vice-Chancellors of Anna Universities Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore and Tirunelveli, Commissioner of Technical Education and the Chairperson of PSNACET are the patrons of TIES 2010. The government officials at the state and district levels including Dindugal district collector, district sports authorities are invited on all days along with the VIPs both at district and state level.
