Bietigheim-Bissingen Germany, 3 December 2009 – Hyundai’s Czech plant in Nosovice outside Ostrava officially opened with a festive ceremony. In the course of this celebration, plant manufacturer Dürr was recognized for its outstanding achievements in the construction of this plant.

Dürr received this award for its services as general contractor for the paint shop. Included in the delivery was robust and low-maintenance technology from pretreatment to cathodic dip painting through to spray booths and dryers in combination with the required conveyor technology. Dürr was able to complete the handover of the painting line despite a tight deadline before the appointed date.

Hyundai benefited from its procurement policy in this project. The well-practised Dürr team contributed significantly to shortening the construction period. The working team had already successfully designed and installed the paint line at the Hyundai subsidiary Kia in Zilina. This experience, along with the people involved were transferred almost one to one to the Nosovice plant. This was an essential prerequisite for the smooth and fast project development.

At the time of the dedication ceremony 80,000 type i30 vehicles had already left the Nosovice plant. Hyundai has been in single-shift production since November 2008. The official opening marked the awaited implementation of a second shift, which has increased the annual output to 200,000 cars. In 2011 a three-shift operation will mean that 300,000 Hyundai and Kia models will run off the plant in Nosovice.
