Classic elegance in black and white : Starck 1 in two new finishes. Duravit introduces two new versions of  its most successful individual furniture item Starck 1.

Philippe Starck designed the Starck 1 collection for Duravit 15 years ago, inspired by primal forms such as the bucket, and the old-fashioned hand pump and nail. Today, the entire range is regarded as a modern design classic, with one piece – “the barrel” – that serves as its outstanding focal point. This conical vanity unit has become Duravit’s most successful individual furniture item, and this was reason enough to introduce two new versions of this bestseller in new eye-catching black and white high-gloss finishes.

Paint finishes are “au courant” in the home and are certainly finding their way into the bathroom. At the same time, however, long-term acquisitions such as those in the bathroom also call for elegant timeless furniture design. With its eye-catching shimmer, the 560 x 825 mm (22” x 32 1/22”) Starck barrel fits the bill to perfection.

The inside of the Starck 1 barrel is 58 cm (22 7/8”) in diameter, providing plenty of storage space. A glass shelf with chrome rail provides room for towels and toiletries, while the barrel’s curved doors open wide for easy access. The shiny chrome handles add a perfect finishing touch to the ensemble.

The quality of the new painted furniture also leaves nothing to be desired. Duravit employs state-of-the-art technology in its manufacturing process: surplus paint is collected in the paint filter unit by means of a blade, while vertical brushes gather all residue and clean each other so that the dried paint falls, in powder form, into a container for simple manual disposal.

The new high-gloss paint finishes round off the classic Starck quintet, which is also available in American Walnut, Pearwood Tone and Macassar real wood veneers.
